Established in the year 1990, the SPSC governs the educational administration of the Siliguri Educational District, with respect to Primary Education. Siliguri Educational District comprises of the plains areas of Darjeeling district.
It is our endeavor to bring about the general upliftment of the quality of Primary Education in this district. Working in close coherence with the district administration, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, the Sarva Shiksha Mission, and the Mahakuma Parishad, Siliguri, we strive towards the academic betterment and infrastructural developement of the primary schools in this district.
Siliguri Educational District has been divided into seven circles, comprising of 391 schools which cater to more than 40,000 children, belonging to diverse backgrounds and languages. Bengali, Hindi, Nepali and Urdu medium schools cater to the multilingual and diverse populace of this region.
Our efforts include assuring smooth and transparent collaboration with the West Bengal Board of Primary Education, on the one hand, and the district administration, along with the schools and grassroots level infrastructure on the other.
It is our responsibility to implement the schemes and policies of the government as instructed by the department of education and the West Bengal Board of Primary Education from time to time. Along with that, it is also our responsibility to monitor and govern the functioning of the workforce at block and circle levels, and the 1,710 teachers engaged in the primary schools of this district.
Our efforts are directed towards bringing about a continuous holistic developement in the realm of free and compulsory education for all.
